My truck's motor has a knocking noise. Would like anyone's opinion on what sounds like the problem.
It is a rythmic knock like 3-4 knocks, a pause and 3-4 knocks.
Engine does same knock on cold startup for less than 2 seconds then fades. When the engine gets really hot from towing or being driven for a while the knock appears again. Sometimes turning the a/c on will make the knock a little louder.
Guage shows good oil pressure, I did have to replace the sending unit.
Engine has a new cap/rotor, sparkplugs and wires, oil change done about 2k miles ago.
Everyonce in a while the knock will increase with rpm, but rarely and it all fades away before 1200 rpm
Engine has 194k miles on it.
What is the next step? Oil analysis? Oil Pressure Test?
I get a check engine light sometimes when I'm cruising and the engine is fully heated but I think this is an EGR issue?
