5.7 engine question

There is a sensor or something next to the distributor right at the back of the intake manifold.......Im just trying to find out what is suppose to be there?? guy i bought truck from had gauges added and i took those out and trying to keep motor stock for the most part.....

Thanks in advance for your help. My truck is a 89 1500 with a 5.7

That would be the oil pressure sending unit
