I'm new and I posted this in the wrong section the first time, so sorry for that.

Here's the story I have a 1994 GMC Sierra, long bed, regular cab, 2wd, with a 4.3 and 4l60e
I'm doing a engine and tranny swap. I got a tranny and motor out of a 1991 Chevy Silverado 2wd. The motor out of the 91 chevy is a 4.3 and the tranny I believe is a 700r4. I'm going to completely swap the motors and trannys out of both.

My question is will the 700r4 and 4.3 from the Chevy go into the 94 sierra without hassle? I know the engines will swap okay, but will the transmissions?? Since the 4l60e is electronic controlled and the 700r4 is before then.

I sorta remember something about it doesn't and you have to use a vacuum line for it to shift right can't really remember. Thanks in advance and you guys have some really nice trucks, hopefully I can just get mine to run haha:)

as long as you bring the harness and such over with it it should be no problem.

Crap. The guy who removed the 700r4 and engine cut up the harness during removal. The only harness I have to use is the one in the 94 sierra that came with the 4l60e.

Why would you replace a 4l60e with a 700r4? They are the same tranny, except the 4l60e is controlled by the ecm.

OK, so keep the 4l60e? if you gotta rebuild it, rebuild it.

chevydan3 - I'm replacing the 94's motor/tranny with a setup out of a 91. The 94's motor needs rebuilt(317k) and the tranny needs rebuilt too, doesn't shift outta first without letting of the gas and then back on.

Wagonbacker9 - I plan on it but already have a different motor and transmission to put in it and want to drive it in the mean time. I'm 16 and need my truck to get back and forth to work. gotta work to save money to rebuild the 4l60e.

I just need to know what I gotta do for the 700r4 to work in place of the 4l60e.

I've been searching for awhile now and can't figure if this is going to work or not and what I need to do to make it work. Has anybody done this swap before putting a 700r4 in place of a 4l60e??

Would something like either of these solve my problem anybody know? I know they're to put a 700r4 in a older vehicle without the ECM, but isn't it basically the same principle putting a 700r4 in a truck that doesn't have a 700r4 ECM.

It's easier just to rebuild the 4L60E you already have. You're going to wind up with a hacked up POS otherwise. You shouldn't need the wiring harness for the 91. Just swap over the engine, knock sensor, etc.
