Hi guys.

Recently started modding my (new to me) 97 ECSB. I owned a 97 'Burb for 8 years prior so I'm pretty familiar with this rig. On my 'Burb, I had 285/60/18's on Weld Evo Andros 18x9 -12mm offset with zero rubbing issues ever on stock suspension. Not to get into it, but I'm haunted every single day by the stupid decision to sell that truck :( . Another story.

In any case, I don't particularly care for the look of anything above 18's on this truck. I'm looking at 305/60/18's on 18x9 or 18x9.5's again - probably Moto Metal 955's with the same backspace noted above. If I recall, this equates to 4.5" backspacing. Now, my truck doesn't have lift kit but it does "appear" to sit 2 inches or so higher than most other gmt400 trucks I see rolling around by neighb.

I'm wondering if anyone has fitted 305/60/18's on a gmt400 and if there are rubbing issues? I may eventually go 3" or 4" suspension lift but not anytime soon. I need new tires stat and don't want to waste my money on 17's for the current rims that I will not keep anyway. I did search and read the relative threads extensively but did not find a conclusive answer.

Many thanks.

-Freddy

EDIT: 12:57PM EST. I goofed up the thread title - should read 18's. My apologies.

Im running 305/50/20 (32") and barely clear them at stock height, so going 305/60/20 (34.4") i would have to say your probably going to want to look at a small lift of some kind, more torsion, Bl etc.

you cant put 305/60/20s on an 18" rim.... the 20 refers to the wheel size so I'm assuming you mean 305/60/18s?

Whoops! I know that! I goofed/typo'd on the thread title :( Should read 305/6018. If a mod could please correct it for me, I'd appreciate it.

I might be wrong and I don't have a truck in your year model but 305/50 or 60 is close to a 31 or so, the only reason Im saying that is I had 325/65/18 on my truck at one time that measure 32 inch. I know am running 295/70/18 measure with air they are 34.25 inchs tall.

Thanks. Yep. Well, the 305/60/18's are @ 32.4" diameter. I think the more pressing problems may be the width about 12". With the 285/60/18s, eyballing it, it looked like I had about 1 - 1.5" of clearance at full lock. These new tires will be 2cm wider so that's what I'm concerned about. Wait and see I guess.

Yea my 325 where or at least wider then a Corvettes . They were so f-ing heavy I took them off becase they rubed my sway bar. Then I got the new ones and they don't rube the sway bar but rubed the hell out of the inner fenders so I had to put a body lift on.
