Can't find a definite answer to this. I put the 8 lug 3/4-1 ton calipers on with my lift. Looking to switch to ceramic pads for low dust with polished wheels. Can I just throw the correct pads for these calipers in instead of 1/2 ton ones?

The sticky says to use 1/2 ton pads, which I did reusing my old pads when installing the calipers with no issue. There is mention in there of using the correct pads for these calipers but you have to grind them? Anyone have any more details? I searched but came up empty, from what I remember during the install I didn't see any reason why you can't use the 1 ton pads....

Im kinda wondering if using the same calipers would be an upgrade over the calipers that come with the hydraboost brakes on the diesels.

Probably would be, if you need new ones just buy those anyway. If it already had them then that was what you needed, if not it was an upgrade. They are only $23/each, so no big deal really.

Well I ordered pads for an 8600 gvw 2500. I will update this as to weather it works or not.

Its bad when I can order them, pay shipping an save $20+ over buying them local, all while getting a better product at the same time. :nono:

physical dimensions of the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton calipers is the same, the difference lies in the piston sizes. actually the 9200 gvw pads are just slightly thinner than the 1/2 ton pads. didnt have to grind mine at all.

For those of you wanting a ebrake setup, just install a line lock in the front or rear circuit, whichever you prefer. much simpler design.

Well found my definite answer. They DON'T work. The pad for wheel side of the caliper is longer an hits the rotor. Unless you want to grind about a 1/4" off the entire edge of the pad.

I don't so I'm going to see if I can send these back an get ones for a 1500.

So use 1/2 ton pads on your 1/2 ton truck with the larger calipers....
