So this started life as a Dekalb co school truck, so at auction and I bought it from the guy who drove it home and decided they didn’t want it. I liked the look and thought it would be fun to leave the dents and bad paint and do a patina styled work truck.
Full disclosure I sell/flip almost all my projects. Usually before I finish them so if that happens I will inform you all so you’re not just hanging. I listed this one immediately when I got it home, it runs well and I drove it home to Atlanta from around cartersville which is 50 miles or so and also ATL traffic.

305/700r4 202,000 miles runs decent. was kept up by CO so Not surprised that the CO had converted it to r134 and charged it. They did however add the wrong ac unit from one of their fleet vehicles sooo a trip to the junkyard and the correct head unit and the AC works.

I pushed some dent out of the door but it’s better for the look to keep it the color it is. I painted the wheels and the grill and mirrors to matte black. I tried a seat cover I had in the basement for a bit but ultimately went with a saddle blanket to more complement the interior.

Inspiration vehicles.
I couldn’t decide on wheels and a drop as I do use it as a truck sometimes and honestly if I sell it someone who wants it didn’t want it to be as low or not low enough. That’s usually where I let other ppl decide.
This is where my dilemma started…
Now this truck needs a brake rotor on the front. I’m sure it’s the 1” brake and I was going to replace the front rotors and pads etc with the drilled ones from summit but had also thought of converting to 1.25 brakes. I did find locally a guy who has bell tech 2” drop spindles rotors ball joints Calipers that he used for mock up and went different way, that I can get very reasonable but being I read they push the front tires out a little and need to be”massaged” to fit 15” and not 100 on if I wasn’t going to run 15” I passed but as of this writing all that is still available.

Got tired of the crappy cover and cheap floor mats. Went with a saddle cover from Amazon tied it pretty good and then 3m spray glue to get it right in spots

So after a bit of considering I think I like the look of the silver truck / let’s call it NASCAR look. It started with the wing idea as I didn’t need to do anything to the truck to add a duckbill spoiler. I can buy a abs one some guy didn’t like on his and might look ok but I’m leaning towards the 1/8 aluminum just bolted inside the tail gate and bent over the tailgate enough to give it the look, 5” or so

Your project name is perfect!
I was calling it AA Ron because the lettering on the side is AA346. But honestly I didn’t really start to put the idea of the truck together until the name government cheese. I knew I wanted a shop truck look but was considering painting over the door logos to get it until the word “work”truck entered and then government cheese just fit and now my idea is more cemented

I ordered the wheels and the fender flares yesterday they should be in right after Labor Day or so then I can mock up the look to see if the flares or the wheels stick out where I want.
15x10 3.75 back space I have 275/60-15 in the basement to go on them if it looks like a good fit. There was no info on the flares so I’m just going to tape em ip and see what I got when they come in. The matte black decals should be in then also I’m putting them just under the AA346 on each fender
Now after that I will address the need to lower it. I’m hoping the rims and tires stick out just enough to meet the flares and hope there not too big

This is a an abs wing i could get from a guy and it’s when I started thinking about other setups. I love the look of the intimidator ones but won’t spend the money on one and still have to do things to the paint of the truck etc. so the aluminum / steel wing idea. I was going to just bend a piece of metal over the tailgate and mounted down inside the tailgate. I still might….. finding a 62” piece of scrap is difficult and without a shop anymore it’s not really fun to be at home in the sun trying to make things work so I will come back to that in another post. I posted this because my main gripe with this wing was it was not for a 88-98 c1500 it is bigger on the sides so it overhangs The bed maybe an inch on each side he says. Now if I add the flares and bigger wheels it may not look as bad as I originally thought?
