    The old family farm truck

Yeah I downloaded the PDFs it's amazing how many people have said to me "it's an old 350 you don't need a cat" I have taken several automotive classes at the community College but '93 is a bit outside of the classes focus at that time the classes were focused on 00's - '10s so very little...

    The old family farm truck

You know your headlights are bad when you drive home at 10pm with your brights on and not a single person flashes there brights at you lol Thinking about doing the 4 hi mod I've been reading about and putting the xenon bulbs in the high beam socket

    Gas Mileage

OP, interesting read, I've noticed some of the same things with my truck averaging about 18mpg but the highways in SW Washington are hilly and winding. I'm curious is your truck an automatic or manual? Mines a clutch and I shift at about 2,000 rpm and try to keep my crusing at or under...

    The old family farm truck

I have been, but it's annoying and technically a mechanical violation. Mostly though, I just want everything to work right, and the speedometer is the last thing other than the AC that I need to fix in terms of interior comfort and convenience Yeah it doesn't seem to make any noticeable...

    The old family farm truck

Well I replaced the speed sensor to no avail, speedo still not working. Having no speedo in your daily is annoying. I'm going to pull the cluster out and check it over see if anything is obviously wrong, hopefully it's something painfully simple like a loose connection. While I have it out...

    The old family farm truck

I just spent the last hour and a half fabricating new exhaust hangers from 1/8 inch thick sheet metal. So at least that's one thing fixed. Picture of one of the mounts mid way through. I rolled the edges to match the tail pipe contour and clamped it to the pipe with exhaust clamps since I don't...

    The old family farm truck

I get a check engine light when coasting down hill in gear. My assumption is that it's because the catalytic converter is gone. I haven't been able to pull the code though. I've been trying to source a gm obd1 code scanner but I refuse to use Amazon I used to work for them. Anyway, does...

    The old family farm truck

I've put 1070 miles on it since I got it running, no real issues getting about 17 MPG. Put new tires on the rear and just installed new tailpipe today. Also noticed the catalytic converter is gone. Just a straight pipe poorly welded where it should be. I rewired the speedo sensor still not...

    The old family farm truck

Finally got my truck running right, next things on the list are fixing the speedometer and adjusting the rear breaks pretty happy about it since I haven't been able to drive the truck in over a year

    The old family farm truck

I had to remove the exhaust from the passenger side of the block to get to plug, engineers "face-palm" I found a diagram for the distributor and plugs, I think my 3 and 8 wires are mixed up but I'm not sure because my distributor is off center, guess I'll switch the wires and see what happens.

    The old family farm truck

So I charged the battery cleaned up the fuel pump ground, dumped about 4 gallons of fuel in and checked the crank sensor truck fired right up but it's running rough under load, going to replace the spark plugs and wires and go from there.

    The old family farm truck

Finally finished the gas tank install, but of course the battery has sat so long that it's a giant paper weight. Also can anyone tell me why all the auto parts stores have a small oil filter listed when my truck has a rather large one? Pics tomorrow

    The old family farm truck

Yeah, it sat so long because my work commute was roughly 90 miles each way and my 2018 trax gets course to 40mpg

    Gas Tank Replacement

Get some extra hands and pull the bed, doing it all from the bottom is a nightmare, one that I'm currently living. I went through rock auto, the "kits" don't all come with the hanging bolt Make sure you have that before starting I had to buy one at autozone today.

My '93 K1500, my great uncle ordered it from the factory in '92 sold to my uncle and I bought it from him. 3 owners across 3 generations. I call my truck Cheyenne, ran perfect when I got it but I let it sit to long and have been fighting with getting it running right. New batt, New alt, New...
