    That looks like a factory block heater. See if there is a flat bladed screw in the middle. If so, carefully try turning the screw to see if that tightens it up. I had the same issue with my 1998.

    Replacing timing chain cover on 1998 chevy 305

    I've been all over the internet trying to figure out if I need to drop the oil pan, or not, in order to install the timing chain cover. I'm getting a Doorman one piece plastic cover. FWIW, I recently replaced the oil pan gasket with a Fel-Pro gasket. What say you?

    Why not check fuel pressure at two points

    One other question. I've read that the minimum fuel pressure is 60 lbs for a 1998 chevy pu with a 305. Mine is showing 58 lbs which the shop considers minimal. It hasn't started when it gets below 50 or so. It finally started today when it got above 50 or so. Any thoughts?

    I appreciate what you are suggesting ... but ....everything you have suggested seems to be fine. The truck runs great. I've done a complete tune-up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor ... etc. It runs fine as long as I get optimum fuel pressure.
