who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

Just saw your reply, I haven’t noticed any steering loss on mine, nor anywhere they hit the frame. To install them it’s a huge pain as there isn’t much room before the braces are added, but definitely make a huge difference. I had them on my 03 Yukon as well and both times I noticed the steering...

who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

How far do you want to go with it? I did Mevotech TTX tie rods/ball joints, Cunningham machine tie rod adjustment sleeves, AC Delco pitman/idler arms, AC Delco idler arm bracket and Cognito pitman and idler arm braces. The Cognito braces make a huge difference and I can’t see the arms wearing...

    Old bushings.......

I just rebuilt my entire front end, replaced all the bushings with energy suspension polys while I was in there. Poly bushings are known for squeaking, after doing some research I found some people saying that wrapping the poly bushings with thread seal tape (the white plumbers tape) along with...

    Lower Control Arms Help

From what I understand that’s the direction it is designed to spring towards. I’ll search again for the forum where I saw someone state the arrow-end goes towards the crossmember. They could have always been wrong also, or it could possibly depend on the year? Or possibly just depend on your...

    Lower Control Arms Help

From the info I’ve gathered searching through forums and after spending hours looking at pictures of control arms trying to see the stampings on the ends, that’s the best of the info I could come up with. The other side of my bars are stamped with the 3 digits and 2 letters, while this side was...

    Lower Control Arms Help

I noticed when putting the belltech lowering keys on that they didn’t quite match up correctly, turns out I had the torsion bars on incorrectly. The “R” bar goes on the passenger side and the “L” goes on the drivers side. I had that part correct but from researching through the forums I found...

    Lower Control Arms Help

Once I find a brake pedal from a 88-94 truck with Hydroboost I’ll report back on how it drives with all the changes, for anyone wondering. Everything has been replaced so it will be hard to tell what all made the biggest difference, but it has -Cunningham Machine steering shaft -Cunningham...

    Lower Control Arms Help

Good to know, I'm not sure why mine were different but it didn’t take much to get it to work right. That frame paint definitely turned out good, that’s how I feel about mine since I brushed the Chassus Saver on. Yours is much smoother.

Yes I greased them also. A little excessive on the grease but I’d rather have too much than not enough on bushings.

    Lower Control Arms Help

Did you have any issues with your control arms making contact with your knuckles when you made the swap? That was what I ended up having such an issue with, maybe my knuckles were just casted weird. Grinding a tiny bit off and I was able to slide them up the balljoint and seat them fully...

    Lower Control Arms Help

Finally got it all together, I ended up having to grind a little bit of material off the driver-side knuckle where the relief is casted in for the balljoint to slide in. It didn’t take much and it finally went together. I used the original poly replacement bushings for the stamped arms in these...

    Lower Control Arms Help

Im wondering if the extra material needed that goes around the press in balljoint vs the riveted BJ’s (riveted BJ’s kind of “hang” from the control arm vs the press-in BJ’s for the forged arms need metal all the way around them) require a different knuckle to clear. These seem to want to hit the...

    Lower Control Arms Help

The lower poly bushings that came in the energy suspension bushing kit I purchased for my 93 K1500 fit fine on the newer lower forged arms. Biggest issue I’ve run into now is the spindles don’t want to go onto the lower balljoint. It seems like there’s not enough room to get them to slid into...

    Lower Control Arms Help

New to me control arms came in, covered in dirt but should clean up nicely. These came off a 1999 K3500 dually, they match up with the arms on my 1993 K1500 RCSB. The bushings seem similar to each other, but I’ll find out once the paint drys and I go to install the new ones.

I’m assuming the forged control arms have different size bushings? I ordered a full kit of polys for my truck, I’ll have to see how the lowers I already have fit

    Lower Control Arms Help

I appreciate that, ended up getting a set of fully Forged arms off of a 1999 or 2000 k3500 on eBay last night for $170 shipped.

    Lower Control Arms Help

I appreciate the offer, I ended up buying a set of used forged arms last night so I’m just going to wing it at this point. I’ll post back here once they come in. After hours of cross-referencing parts it seems they should be a direct bolt-in even though they came from a 3500 truck.

I found and purchased a used set of forged/casted LCA’s online off a 99-2000 GMT400. I’ll chime back in here on fitment.

    Lower Control Arms Help

I’m surprised no one makes LCA’s for how common these trucks are, do you know if the K1500/K2500/K3500 LCA’s are the same fitment-wise?

that’s good to know, hopefully someone can chime in about the lowers. I’ve got polys for all the control arms, leafs/shackles and body mount bushings that I’ll be installing

    Lower Control Arms Help

I worked on it with a 5lbs sledge on and off for about 2 weeks before deciding to bring it to the shop and hitting it with the acetylene torch and some quality air tools with a good compressor. With the metal warped/bubbled around the balljoint it’s time to just replace it.

    Lower Control Arms Help

I believe I found those threads but I had a hard time following if they would work on any K1500 or if they were for Suburbans/K2500’s only. Some said the fully forged LC’s also may give a slightly tighter turn radius? I’m assuming the K1500/K2500/K3500 all use the same control arm then? If so...

    Lower Control Arms Help

I was able to knock the heads off fine, the issue I’m having is the rivet body is stuck in the balljoint. Hard to tell from a picture but the LCA started to warp pretty bad from the heat. They didn’t necessarily melt but I would rather replace them at this point. A buddy with a shop was heating...
