Ok, what other misconceptions would you like to put forth?
None. Yeah, I know they've recently formulates a GASOLINE ENGINE "Rotella" oil. I was actually referring to the diesel Rotella oil that people have very frequently claimed is the silver bullet fix for oil "problems". Nice job taking it out of context, though. Orpedcrow "gets it". :waytogo:

Diesel Rollea has been used in gasoline engines for decades and you would be hard pressed to prove that it has caused a major engine failure.

Yeah, man. I know. I've been in the biz for >30 years and people have been telling themselves their own "Lube engineer" stories for all of that time....and then some. I "get it".

Note: I'm pretty sure that that I didn't make any claims about Rotella (or any oil), and "major engine failures"....if I did, please quote where I did that so I can hurry and go fix it, would you? Thanks, Bud.

The "you" was not directed at you personally.

I worked on garbage trucks, they all leaked all the fluids. They were all the same trucks that used all the same (different) fluids. We had barrels of everything in stock all the time.

One of the “senior techs” put hydraulic fluid in every hole he could reach quoting “it’s the same stuff, they just change the color to charge you more”.
A similar position I occupied for 18 months, while working in the Ground Support shop at United Airlines. We worked/ serviced all the ground equipment that you see running around the airport that UAL owned. Baggage tractors, carts, forklifts, fuel trucks, service trucks with vertical lift, all tow tractors, and the lavatory service trucks. You know the truck that empties the holding tank, sooo gross. We had two big wash bays like the self serve. Thank God. Everything we took in got washed. Some things just never died. When I left they still two Ford trucks with point ignition. And two 125,000 lb , tow tractors powered by V12 Cummins locomotive engines. The engine is about 10-12 feet long. Fun times.
