I decided to just cap off the evap purge hose (#7 in the picture from my earlier post) and put a vented cap on the end of the line to the fuel tank (#5) It seems to start a little easier now. I think the purge valve might be a bit leaky and it was sucking in fumes from the gas tank vent hose when the two lines were connected. Now that i have it capped of it eliminated one possible vacuum leak and starts a bit easier. (or so it seems). But now i have raw gas fumes venting under my hood, which i think is less than ideal.

Plus, condensation inside tank contamition of fuel as it "goes flat" more quickly.
I'd restore EVAP system to it's proper function, if it were me.

If i can get my hands on all the parts that is the plan. But they are surprisingly expensive new. So i will see what i can find (if i ever get a chance) at a junkyard.
Interesting thread, since I also have venting issues. Hopefully this weekend I can start troubleshooting.
When you get around to it, let us know what you find. Im not sure the setup I have is going to work in the long run and more information and experience is always better :)

how did that turn out because I got a big ass trans cooler with a fan that will not fit behind my grille and I would like to put it in that corner and the evap canister is the only thing in the way
Zdog, you will beat me to it for I have not done this yet. I want to delete the ABS first then work on that.

Let me know how it goes and spread the wealth of info.

Cheers,
