Mine's running well. I'm sure there's not much difference in performance since they're both reputable carbs. The truck was underpowered before the swap, and its still underpowered with the holley. But at least it runs and starts better than with a worn out fuel injection system.
I just noticed it was a big block. I should've ran one considering mines a long bed ext cab.

There was this guy a few years back who did a Dyno run with a carbed vortec headed 350 with the l31 stock cam and it made 313 hp with a Holley. I think his name is Richard H

I'd imagine the big block would be closer to 400.

What sucks about my motor is, it's one of those Mexican replacement crate motors with the ****** little 906 Mexican heads. I seen that they only flow like 160cfm on the intake side.

The gen. 6 454 numbers are pretty dismal. I think they only had 290 hp, 410 ft lbs from the factory IIRC. I'm not gonna get it on a dyno, but I probably picked up a few ponies with the conversion since I bumped up the timing and added longtubes. But it'll mainly be used to reliably get my boat to the lake during the summer, so not too worried about power numbers.

Hmm. That's true. I don't really remember all the hp numbers for a 454. 290 is pretty reasonable for a street vehicle anyway. I guess as long as you can keep up at 80 on the interstate it don't really matter.

I bought this truck for myself in 99 but for the last 10 years my son who was disabled and lived with us drove it. He loved hot rods. He passed away unexpectedly in October of 21.
I will never sell it so I painted it and rebuilt the motor with a lot of hp upgrades....for him.

Kiss your resale value good by
You really should read a thread from the beginning.

Who in there right state of mind converts a fuel injection truck to a hillbilly carb job kinda go backwards not forwards

Carbs work great and they have their place. Unlike the rudimentary early EFI the carb can give max performance without burning chips for obsolete EFI systems that can’t even be laptop tuned without a ECU swap. No need to get in other peoples face about their choices in carb vs EFI. If you don’t have anything helpful to say then….

Imagine getting called a hillbilly by someone who doesn’t know the different between their and “there” lol.

I'm not disagreeing fuel injection is better but "FACTORY" EFI systems cant support any boosted or nitrous applications

A "properly tuned" carbureted engine can make as much power or more as factory EFI can

Do YOUR thing Dk47 - Good job

?? My dually takes boost just fine. Putting boost thru a carb is not an easy feat. Sure I have a bigger pump, injectors, and a 411 swap but I got it with all that being stock.
