That is such a neglected yet important field of engineering
Im am right this moment sitting on a chair that is ready to fail.
Which will be at least the 4th one in the last year.
I am 6'4" and 240.
And gaining. I took up cooking as my new hobby during the pandemic.
The engineering problem is that most of that 6'4" is leg. And arms that I can touch my knees with and not have to bend over to do it.
I am the preferred light bulb changer and top shelf grabber amonst my family and freinds.
They call me when they dont want to buy a ladder.
That spindly framework is keeping a whole lot of steak and pasta and Guiness upright.
Short people can lower themselves into a short chair.
Tall people can not.
Once your ass and your mass gets to far away from your lower legs you are sitting whether you like it or not.
My wife is an antiques dealer. We do several shows a year.
And we have to take spare chairs for me because I always crush one.
And then I have to figure out how to get back up without wrecking my wifes back when she tries to get me off of the floor.
The search for a structurally solid folding camp chair that has a tall enough seat is my holy grail.
Ive crushed them all.
This'll do. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-p1045

6.4L hemi only has 75k miles.
And has the lifter/cam failure.
It's a damn shame they seem to not be able to get those right. Otherwise the 6.4 seems pretty solid. Is that a truck or car engine? I understand they're different, but both seem to suffer cam/lifter issues, or maybe it's lifter issues, and the cam is the victim. Ford and GM have their share of related issues as well.. we're getting ready to start ordering RAM (Cummins) trucks at work because these Ford gas trucks are low bid junk; won't order RAM gas trucks because of the lifter issues. I know a guy that had his engine gone through twice for the lifter problems and that's even with swapping the MDS lifters out for "Hellcat" (in other words non-MDS) lifters, still managed to crap out on him again.

It's a 2014 ram 2500.

And I usually see the MDS lifter fail but this was one of the non MDS that failed and I believe it's lifter cause the roller was locked up and no needle bearings left in it. And the lifter right beside it had excessive play from where the bearing was going out in the roller.

In related news they just announced the 2023 Chrysler 300C which will come with several features that have been missing for the last few years since they discontinued the 300 SRT in the US market. It has the 6.4 hemi, Brembo brakes, active exhaust, limited slip diff, etc. It's not an SRT but it's pretty close. Last US market 300 SRT was 2014.

Stellantis is emptying the parts bins. :(

Other carnage.
Back in the 80s I was a deck monkey on a research boat.
So we went clamming and got two 5 gallon buckets if clams.
Cleaned them and steamed them and melted butter and lemons and garlic
Turns out that some people are,not allergic to shellfish toxins
I am not, my freind Chris is not, The skipper if the boat John was not.
But the other 8 people on that 53 foot boat were violently ill.
Middle of ******* no place 53 foot boat with one head.
It was gross nasty and I was so afriad that we couldnt go fast enough.
Flat out we could only do 7.5 knots.
Coast Guard Canada
Absolute pros. Just one of the most competant and professional people i have ever met..
And the same goes for the US Coast Guard.
They saved my dumb ass twice.
I think ill just stay up here on the top of this big tall 800 foot hill from now on.
Ive had enough cold water and wet boots.

I tried to get into the Officer cadet program with the Canadian Coast Guard in 1981. It was going to be a three year free ENG Tech training. I had all the good grades in the high school sciences but lacked grade 9 French, I took German instead. All Good. Cold water and wet boots would be brutal in the Artic.
