Speaking of diff covers what's the story behind covers with fins? Does it make sense for stock setup?
They might help some on long trips, or when towing. Never had a vehicle that had one so don't know for sure. But the aluminum and fins should have some heat diffusing effect.

It just seems so out of place to me. Unless it's a new vehicle, it's dirty and/or rusty under there, and then there's a single painted piece. I'd prefer all black under there, and if anything, the aforementioned aluminum cover.
I think whatever shade of dirt/rust/mud kind of camouflages the whole underside. And an all clean/restored chassis draws positive attention from those who know the work that took to get there. But everyone's different.
I've seen them painted orange with a Jack-o-lantern face, I've even seen the entire rear axle painted "chrome" spray paint.

Maybe I'll try it some time. Since mine is lifted and has bigger tires
According to Banks, the stock cover performs better than most aftermarket covers. He's done a series of videos on the subject. Of course he's now come out with his own cover, after trashing everybody else's, so take it with a grain of salt, I guess.

Lol! That kind of thing used to make me mad. But if you're in this as a business, and see that despite your advice, people keep spending $$$ on them, might as well make money yourself.
I like the fill and drain plug. And the aluminum covers do look good, I just wish they weren't so damned expensive.

Not very much done so far. Since I've had it the starter has been replaced, plugged a hole in 2 tires, replaced the air conditioning bypass pulley, fixed the latch on the glovebox door, disconnected the electrical connector for the recirculation door actuator to stop the 58 clicks on start up and shut off, ran it through the automatic car wash every chance I get (monthly member), and used it as a truck for 230 miles averaging 7.3 MPG.

Driving is pretty much all I’ve been doing to mine until the weather gets a little better
