One thing to consider. If those plastic headlight lenses are are clear as they appear in your pics preserve them. Find a brand of PPF you like, I had XPEL film on a set of lenses for 10 years with zero delamination or yellowing. They will prevent the plastic lenses from scratching or crazing due to UV or anything else. There is also no optical distortion.
Another option, but more expensive is 12 years ago I put the alternate grill from a 97 GMC that was configured for a 2 lens glass configuration headlight assembly on my 97 K1500. It allowed me to:
1. upgrade to an EU lens which casts a more efficient beam down the road
2. it will give you access to a larger range of bulbs options if you want to experiment there.

It sounds a little off but as much as I loved everything else on my truck I hated the headlights and the pitiful light they cast down the road.

I will dig some pics and part numbers out and post here in a bit.

I still have the truck and love the light I now get plus get plenty of compliments from others who still have the old headlight system.

Thank you very much for the compliment.
I have actually already ordered the parts that have now arrived- and as mentioned just some minor cosmetic things.. as my intention of buying it in the first place was to have fun doing a few things to it, however with the feedback I have received on here and many people saying how good it looks all original, I will be keeping all oem parts to quickly switch it back to original with ease if it doesn’t turn out how i envision it.

I would leave it as it is. Do any maintenance that it needs and leave it. If it was a higher mileage vehicle that wasn’t in such good shape I might consider modifying it but you will get more value out of it the way it is. If your just gonna flip it then let the new owner do the mods if they want to do if any. Just my .02

Thanks for the recommendation, I just completed a synthetic oil change and all other maintenance is up to date. I specifically bought it to have some fun doing a few things to it , something I have been looking forward to doing with my dad as we have had the idea to do a minor cosmetic build to one for some time -and I finally found this real well preserved example for the optimal starting point. We are keeping all stock parts to revert back to original if the new owner prefers, but I think it is going to turn out awesome and I believe you guys will like, I am excited to share once we have it completed.

If your doing a personal build than it up to your personal taste. I’m currently rebuilding a 95 Sierra scsb and I’m put a cowl hood on it, new lighting, roll pan and mostly interior color swap. If I had your truck I would do a mild drop, maybe run some nice stock GMC rims, hood, roll pan, pull all of the trim off, some tint, smooth front bumper, stereo upgrades and maybe some lighting upgrades. But not too much. Keep us updated, I will follow to watch what you choose to do. Have fun with it.
