The truck is an 89 k3500 6.2 almost 90k miles. Lrt me start by saying I dont know if the glow plugs have ever been changed, they look rusty as hell. I dont have much time to diagnose right now. So i went for a drive last week, it ran great as usual parked it the next morning cranked until the batt died. Didnt even sound like it wanted to start. It blew alot of white snoke out the exhaust while cranking. Also my lift pump is wired key on and i can hear it running. Tonight i gave it a little starting fluid and it started right up and restarded fine after 30 seconds of running. Then i let it sit for a while and all it would do is crank. What do you guys think?

I think that you should NEVER use starting fluid on a 6.2, IF you need to use a starting aid use WD-40. It will not cause engine damage like ether will.
Unplug all of the glow plugs. Take a test light and hook the clamp up to the positive terminal on the battery/alternator and use the point to touch the end of the glow plug where the wire from the harness connects to each one. The light will glow if the glow plug still has continuity.

With the smoke it sounds like the combustion chamber temps are not getting hot enough to get the fuel to burn at start up. I would at least check and make sure that your glow plugs are working. if the tip gets red and glows it is working if the shaft gets red it is bad. If it where me not knowing the age of them I would replace them and go from there. I would also make sure that the controller is working properly. You can also try plugging your block heater in and see if it helps.

Just ohmed out my plugs. 6 read 0 ohms at the spade connector The other 2 read much higher one at 14 one at 50. Is this common? I ohmed the new set snd there all under an ohm.

If i remember correctly they should read less then a ohm but more then 0. It has been years since Ive ohmed a glow plug so take what I am saying with a grain of salt. Have you tired putting power and a ground to them while they are out to see what the "glow" looks like? When doing this I would recomend not holding them in your hand.
