Found your problem. Replace the coil. I had the exact same problem on my 96 tahoe,wouldn't start on humid or rainy days. New coil and it never had a problem again.
Are you sure that's the correct sender for your truck? I've never seen one for that

A tail if wire already attached and plugs into the wiring harness.

Your using an older style HEI distributor in this set up you set up base timing
Like an older vehicle then the distributor has mechanical and vacuum advance
No just use one wire, the purple one has a white stripe on it making it "purple\white".
Just connect the purple wire to the tach port on the distributor. Use the heavy pink wire that went to the coil originally, connect that to the batt port on the distributor. Then the tps kit and it should run...
