Used, Reman, Crate, or LS???
Yep, I searched for almost 2 years for a 5.7 for my '93 Z-71 with tbi, I didn't want to go back to a carb or have to do all the computer stuff for a vortec. Found a guy pulling out a nice one with 134K on it for $500 plus it had aluminum pulley setup on it. But you got to hunt.- Encoreman

1999 Suburban
Hi all, I see all the time GMT-400 referring to 88-98, but my 99 burb has same body as 98 and has a 5.7 vortec. But I have also seen 99 pickup with the newer body??- Encoreman

93 Z-71 starts then went dead
Tried the paper clip trick, got code 43. Knock sensor circuit. I forgot about that, memory older than truck. LOL The wire plug in got messed up, will this keep truck from not cranking or getting power to fuel pump?? Thanks- Encoreman

93 Z-71 starts then went dead
Hi guys, I replaced fuel pump about 10 months ago, I don't drive this much may have put 4,000 miles on in 10 months. 5.7 TBI. About a week ago I chose it to drive into town and started it up and went to unlock gate and it went dead, tried to crank it and wouldn't start and no noise from fuel...- Encoreman

The Stupid Engine Questions Thread
Hi I have a 93 Z-71 stepside with 260K on 5.7. I just bought and installed a 95 5.7 out of a clean 135K truck. I have run into a few differences like the 95 water pump had barb for heater hose. My question is concerning the computer, will I need to do anything because of the OBD 1 and OBD 1.5...- Encoreman
