Thank you ******** (seems weird calling someone that). Thats what I had to do because I put it off and the air pump bearing locked up solid. Unfortunately there were horses in the trailer and you never want to get stuck on the side of the road with horses. Too much danger to the horses...- deckeda

Ribbon temp guage stuck
My '89 has a stuck gauge, registering "full hot" to the right. Disconnecting the wire from the sensor does nothing. Disconnecting the battery does nothing. I don't understand how this is a grounding issue when there's no available live circuits anywhere.- deckeda

Temp guage reading wrong
I would have started a new thread with this same title, but I haven't done the same work. Temp gauge is pegged now all the time, is the first step to look at wiring or to test the sending unit? I see one on the driver's side in that head but don't know if that's the only one this orig 7.4L TBI...- deckeda

This I agree with, and my experience also backs that up. I will note that a '74 Camaro I used to have had the AIR pump. It was a CA car, so its 350 was rated for 160 instead of 185HP for that year. Still had a decent Q-Jet that was easy to tune / swap jets and secondary hangars into and with...- deckeda

String method, ha! And thanks for the links. It's nice to have options. The style that's in the other manifold have hex heads. I figured worse case I could just remove one and take it into a store to verify.- deckeda

The setup on this truck pumps air into exhaust manifolds but does not divert into the air cleaner from what I remember. It's mostly a farm truck pulling a horse trailer, and on occasion when on the open road the cat is plenty hot by then I'm sure.- deckeda

On rockauto.com I see listings for with A/C, without A/C, and with air pump but I haven't come across listing without air pump. So a question is, in '89 was the air pump standard on the 454, or not? '89 door pull strap?
C3500 Silverado This is the plastic strap you pull in order to close the door. It's got metal ends, that I suppose bolt to the door panel ... and one has rusted through. (I didn't find any reproduction parts available such as for square bodies.) Rather than search junkyards for another piece...- deckeda

I think I saw theirs but something was different, like the year ... what I ran into was that a place like that would have something close but with zero explanation of why or why not the part might be different. I got it done yesterday with a piece of 10mm line I bent into shape. The OEM line...- deckeda

Might be able to cut the line and slide some portions off, although it sorts begs the question of why bother if not all of it could be covered. I'll see about copper/nickel line.- deckeda
