With my covers on, I drive at night with brights on at all times, no one flashes me.

I thought about getting some of those Silverstar ultra brights or whatever those are called that you see in Wal-mart, what are the numbers for DIM and BRIGHT? 9004 and 9006?

I ran Sylvania Silverstar ultra's (which is supposedly the brightest halogen availible) in my highs and lows for a long time. They are ALOT better then stock, but still not near as bright as HID's! I'm still running the Sylvania Siverstar ultras in my lows, and they are a good bulb. There between $44.95 and $49.95 no matter where you go, but check out amazon if you want a set. I got mine of there for i think $26.95 a set. Honestly if i where you i'd just get a set of HID's, for a little more money you'll have a lot more light output!! I can give you the name of the seller i bought my HID's from if you want, there really good quality, slim weather proof ballasts, 2 year waranty, and super fast shipping.
Oh and the High Beam bulb number is: 9005
Low beam is: 9006

I just want the brightest bulb to put in, I don't want to have to change pig tails or anything, I don't know much about electrical stuff, just the basics.

The HID's kit's are simple to put in, it's all plug n play, i think it took me like an hour to install them in my 94'. As far as the brightest bulb to put in aside from hid's, Sylvania Silverstar ultra's are your best bet.
Here's a link on a write up i did over on GMTruckcentral on installing HID's: http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/HID.html
And here's a link to the Syvania Silverstar Ultra's on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-9005SU-SilverStar-Performance-Headlights/dp/B000M5W25E

Do those HIDs get so hot, they might melt my stock housings or headlight covers?

When you bought your headlight covers, did they come in a set of four or do you know if the turn signal covers are sold seperate?

Mine are the wrap around style, it came with 4 covers, 2 for the head lights, 2 for the parking lights, and they wrap around the whole housing and the corner lights.

They are GT Styling ones, the others like AVS suck from what Ive seen.

This is true! I had the same set up as you, Silverstar ultras in my highs/low with the 4-high harness. The light output was great! Now with the 4-high and the HID's in the highs and silverstar ultras in the lows, i have unbelievable light output :)

I don't think you'll have a problem with they melting the housings or anything, I'm running stock housings and have no issues. And i drive with my highs 98% of the time at night, so there on pretty much constantly. Usually the only time people have problems with HID's melting the housings is when they put HID's into a little cheap fog lamp housing or somthing like that. So to answer your question, i don't think you'll have any problem if you decide to go that route! Also i would recommend doing the 4-high mod, it really does add a lot of light output when you have your highbeams on!!

Hid bulb's run cooler than halogen's, so if heat is your worry then you should be good!
