well 8 inch springs or bigger was my first guess but to be conservative I said 6 inch springs or bigger. I know the kits get you like 4 by themselves.

My truck has roughly 5 inches in the front and that's with the 2 inch leaf springs at negative arch. Damn 454 weighs it down pretty good.

Tell me about it, my ex was hooked on airboats after the 3rd time I took her to the lake, well she wanted her own since she liked to drive so much. She asked one day, "Why don't you build me a boat out of that little 10' hull?" I told her give me $200 and she could build whatever she wanted out of. That was the last of her wanting to own an airboat. lol Keep in mind she was making more than I was at the time, damn woman.
