Cool.....I have done 4 of these conversions on various vehicles .....always happy with the results .....the only recurring issue I see here in Florida is heat soak / vapor lock ....... Im not saying you will run into it with your setup but you may ...I always run a plastic carb spacer to help with that issue and drill a 1/16 hole in my fuel cap.
It's got the return line that should be all that i need. It don't get over 95 here anyway unless it's one of them miserable days.

The overwhelming majority of carb swappers think it was a good move. TBI technology is antiquated and impossible to “tune”. Carb aren’t for everybody but I find my swap was an excellent decision. BTW: Blocks are all the same, only the heads change from generation to generation.

What do you mean by impossible to "tune"?

Blocks are all the same, only the heads change from generation to generation.
Not quite, Vortec blocks don't have the coolant bypass port for the water pump that TBI (and earlier) blocks do.

I have to agree.I'm more than pleased with the Eddie its got more than enough power.i got tired of all the backfiring and the stumble and then these tbi model trucks are moving up in age,so anything orginal is gonna have problems. My only problem I'm having Is choke flutter. Fixed the 5000 backfire though.

I don't have any proof on this but I think that the untuned tbi interfered with the fast burn function on these heads. Stock tbi atomizes fuel diffrent than multi port or whatever the vortec injection is.

Besides theres a lot better fuel injection systems out there than tbi is all I'm saying.

Not really, the TBI delivers fuel the same way as your carb, it's a wet manifold system. I'm running TBI on a 377 cu in (383 without being bored to 4.030") stroked Blue Print short block with aluminum "fast burn" style heads that flow better than Vortec. Running at 10.3:1 compression. I have it rev limited to 5700 rpm (until I get it broke in) and no "backfire" with ~12.5 AFR on my WBO2. I'm thinking your "backfire" was really lean pops. What AFR are you running at?

I can "tune" my TBI with a laptop, not with a screwdriver and wrenches. Everything in the TBI is replaceable or serviceable. I have an AFPR so, if I want more fuel, I simply raise the pressure or adjust my VE fueling tables.

I don't wanna get into a pissing match but, carburetor technology is older than TBI and way harder to "tune". Why would I want to revert back to the 70s when I was first tuning carbs? :33:

Enjoy running your toilet bowl system, I'd rather be running a computer controlled toilet bowl

I think it was Richard who once said that replacing worn out parts with new performance parts gives one the impression it is an "improvement" when simply replacing the worn out parts was the biggest improvement......
