Should be. Got a little over 300 miles on it and a LOT of WOT pulls, but then again maybe not
Even then i don't see it gaining 60psi compression.

Was the throttle wide open and all plugs removed when you tested the compression? If its turning over slower than usual the numbers will be low too.

All plugs out, Throttle open, Cranking normal as ever, Slightly warm. It did hit 120psi at 3 bumps though, 4 and 5 bumps added nothing.

120 seems low but I would try another compression tester. After a while the orings in the quick connects leak or gauge itself could have a damaged bordon tube.

Its also possible the camshaft was installed with the timing chain retarded a full tooth. I have seen it happen.

I suppose either timing gear could have been marked wrong from the manufacture but it was installed dot to dot. I looked at it about 50 times.
My Harbor Freight gauge is brand new and my buddies (same brand) was well used but we did use my lower section with both gauges. Maybe something is wrong with that. I'll need to check it out.

I have seen parts that were not made correctly. Stranger things have happened. Once pulled apart a TBI 350 that looked as if it had never been disturbed. All 8 pistons were LH bank pistons. The ones on the RH bank were installed with the dots facing the rear.

That is why I upgraded the last two sets of lifters that I pulled down and cleaned to snap rings.

Strangest this i have seen in a engine tear down was a Cadillac engine that had no rings on one piston and on a old Chevy 216 dipper someone used a leather strap for rod bearing.
