I used an ultra common tool that every regular person has in their garage… a sand blaster

No no, after bare metal. Any metal prep solution before primer and paint.

I put gloves on and clean throughly with acetone. Alcohol works good too. I’ve had varying results with shaker can primers and tend to not use them if I don’t need too.
