I have no idea, I brought my laptop and HPTuner dongle but didn't have time or the sense of mind to hook it up,
Bummer. If it were me, I might hook everything up for the trip home...

That's the plan, if the truck acts up again I'm definitely probably going to send it down the road, as much as I don't want to.Bummer. If it were me, I might hook everything up for the trip home...

I'll hold off on the tune file for now, I'll take a log coming back from the campground; hopefully coil and a couple other things will make the trip back a little smoother.Yeah, i'd be prepared to log and correct the timing for KR every so often.
Next week will be crazy for me, but how about come to my work on the 17th and we'll do a little bit to your truck. Take a log on the way up and we can nip the KR you have leftover and so a little VE tuning from the get-go.
Oh, and I'll put in the PID parameters that I settled on for startup/idle so your truck won't surge/choke when starting up hot. Its not perfect, but a lot better than what they're already at.
Unless you want me to send my current tune file over and you can pick what you want?
The shields is an interesting thing; I have a mystery rattle in my exhaust somewhere. I don't know if it's the guts on the muffler coming apart or something else. I guess I'll take a peak at the heat shields for shigs and giggles. Not sure if this is worth anything being as I have a 5.7 with bb tuned black box, but my timing stays right around 32 (if I remember correctly) while towing at 2600-3000 rpms. It does this for hours on end, never heating up. The timing sometimes retards a bit when being passed by loud vehicles, then goes right back to 32. It pulls really good (for a 5.7).
The timing used to retard often, and I think it was due to the factory exhaust shields rattling around. Once I went around and put self tapping screws through the shields into the truck body, the timing seemed to stabilize while towing.
Not sure if any of this helps, but it really made a difference on mine.
Until a guy KNOWS what his timing and fuel trims are while making the truck work, you will always be guessing though.
It is a priority, and I am grateful for Dustin's help, it's just a little frustrating with how the weekend has gone.Wanting to sell the thing because it's acting up, but having spent the money on the logging software to diagnose it is very foolish. If you lack familiarity with HPT to do so, there is very obviously help waiting for you. You need to make this enough of a priority to get it fixed because it won't fix itself and by the sounds of it, the average mechanic will be of little to no help here.

**** I forget we're dual wielding Dustin's in this thread; @Mangonesailor Dustin,Dustin? I haven't done **** to help out on the HPT side. Uncanny.
