They're coming to Texas too. In the process of messing up Austin area, and making it harder for the locals to have affordable housing. This was already happening, but they've accelerated the situation.
I was living in CA and commuting to Juarez MX via El Paso for a couple years, then they talked me into taking over as Extrusion Production and Maintenance Manager in Jaurez. We were looking at properties in El Paso area and New Mexico. I got a lot of guff from other people that lived there about raising their property values. That wasn't my plan but...

Well, in a moment of sanity, I quit that job and took one in Modesto CA (still lived in Merced - a 50+ mile one way commute) a year before we moved to AZ. God, I'm glad we didn't move to El Paso, not a bad town but crossing the border everyday - not so much!

Aluminum extrusion with 6000 series alloys mainly for ladders (I neglected to mention I worked for Werner Ladders at the time). We heat the aluminum billets up to ~900* and extrude them with a hydraulic press. The exit temps are 940* - 1100* then cooled with water or fans to under 700* within 2 minutes to achieve TYE (Tensile Yield Elongation) properties. Then the extrusions go into an age oven and cooked at 360* for about 6 hours. We had 2 presses there, 1 - 2750 Ton and 1 - 2000 Ton. We ran 24/7 and produced over 3,000,000 Lbs/Month just for ladders, ha ha.

We also had fiberglass pulltrusion lines but, I stayed away from that stuff.

Cool!
And it's interesting how they make extruded items from aluminum.

My truck has a tune of some sort, all the emissions are turned off and instantly ready even if u clear codes or disconnect battery so it’s got something lol-passed just fine. I don’t think this will end up being a big deal. But it is dumb.

A program that compare's parameters to the oem tune? Might not be really all that difficult.

I wonder if such a comparison could be made in a timely fashion.

Without a reason to suspect an alteration, I wonder if it would justify the time (whatever time it would take) to validate the parameters as being unchanged, "OEM". Pulling the parameters from my 1998 Suburban takes a while, but that's just one vehicle and one perspective.

I suppose legislation could force the process to be expeditious, if doing so became the government's objective. The government knows pretty much everything about us already anyway... and what the government doesn't know, Google or our cell phone provider does.
