I seriously considered it, but like you, my knee was shot early in my teenage years. But my gf at the time (future ex wife) was definitely not onboard with me joining the service or even going to college. You know the type, “you need to start working so we can get our own place, if you go to college, we’ll live with our parents forever, blah blah blah”. Of course I was young and stupid like we all were at one point lol.

I can relate to that for sure! My IQ drops by half if a female and I are interested in eachother, and halves again once it "gets serious". Pathetic.

If it makes y'all feel better, that stuff happens in the other direction too. In retrospect I have to wonder what I ever saw in some of my ex boyfriends.....
You know what they say, "seemed like a good idea at the time....." At least mom and dad didn't get grandkids out of it....
A very true song lyric a guy I know wrote years ago: " love is deaf dumb and blind, and it can't be told ". And yes, he's been married more than once.

I’ve been on this forums around 5 or so years, and every post of yours I’ve read I thought you were a guy. It’s too early for this

Sorry I bummed you out! I've learned after growing up in the auto parts business and being around mechanics most of my life, that it's better to not make a big fuss about being a girl. If people put too much emphasis on my gender rather than getting the job done, it just complicates things.

:banghead: Spent an hour and a half on just removing the stupid bolt for the jack holder. After heat, penetrating oil and vice grips I finally worked it out, total waste of an afternoon. Also it appears I’m managing to break every sill plate since all of the Phillips head screws are stripped beyond belief. And the ones that weren’t already stripped, I went ahead and stripped those too so they match

What I was getting at is as a small business owner, you can earn more than someone with a degree and be your own boss. What you said certainly applies here as well.
I agree, a small business owner can make more than someone with a degree, however the chances of success are better for the college graduate overall. Being good at a trade doesn't necessarily mean having business sense, or understanding how to market your skills.
Also, being your own boss usually sounds way better than it actually is. Somebody has to work the **** shifts!

Your point is well taken though. College absolutely isn't for everyone, and certainly not as a teenager. I do think everyone's chances of success are better with an education than without one, but that includes apprenticeships and other practical training.

Agreed. I think the folks who go right out the gate and kick ass with no degree are outliers. Most either need life experience or college to set them on the right track. And the self employed folks I've hung around definitely bust their ***** harder than most any employee.
