Then you should be good there.

Flow masters have baffles in them to direct flow. Unlikely to have an issue inside a flow master, although baffles do restrict flow some what, but not to the extent of robing power all of a sudden.

Im thinking it might have to do something with the distributor .. i have a video posted on reddit of what im talking about not sure how to post something like that here .

Then you should be good there.

Does 95 have OBD2 capability? If so, long term fuel trim will tell you if it's a vacuum leak or fuel issue as well.

95 had TBI and OBD1 but is that still in the truck?

Hard to tell, but definitely not a backfire. I'd check fuel pressure first, sounds like a more severe case of low pressure than I had in mine a while back. Tested the pressure, it was only a few pounds low, but that's all it takes to cause issues with acceleration.
