OMG, ride is sooooooooooooo much better now that I got off my ass and ditched the front poly body mounts. The stockers were rotted and gone last year so I chucked them and all I had on hand was poly so I slapped them in. What a tooth rattling nightmare, don't ever ******* do that. I'd sooner go back to rotted out mounts. The truck rides like a truck now, it doesn't seem ****** or anything. I'm happy with it, but I do have new rear leaf bushings and 1 year old Bilsteins. Could be that you just need new shocks. All front bushings are original and likely hammered.

Had a slight issue today. On the way up to the race track I stopped for food, sitting in the drive-thru with the A/C on I noticed the temp climbing, usually it'll get to 202 and drop back down to 195.
But it didn't.
I think by the time I was able to get moving enough to cool the truck down it was sitting at 215; and when I got out on the road and tried to get on it the truck wasn't having it. It was shaking and running rough like it had a misfire and I could hear a belt squealing.

I limped it to the camp grounds and shut it off, hopped out and checked under the hood for anything super noticeable but I didn't see anything. Anyone got any idea what happened? My thinking is that something on the ignition side got hot and was acting up but I'm not 100% sure.

It could be the water pump impeller? You heard a belt squeak, could've started locking up? A/C compressor putting drag on the belt? How bad was it squealing?

The ECU will drastically pull timing as the engine gets hot. I know this cause when I almost overheated the other weekend it was like I had no power and the engine was skipping when accelerating. Pretty sure you and I have the same map for that, stock likes to play with the timing if you're not at 195. Mine stops messing with it at about 175 sonic can run a cooler thermostat.

It was squealing pretty bad, imagine locked up tensioner bad, but it was RPM related, so A/C compressor or impeller might be a good guess.
Usually it runs anywhere from 191-195 on a normal day. And it definitely sounds the same as your situation, the engine was skipping and shaking something fierce.

You sure it didn't blow coolant on the belt or something? Is the water full?
Rad was full, overflow tank was full, no leaks anywhere. I did add just a smidge more to be on the safe side. More for my peace of mind than anything else.

Yeah, I'd take the serp belt off and see if you can spin the water pump/fan easily.

I checked it over, and nothing was locked up, fan and water pump felt the same way as they did when I replaced them. I guess the truck was just too hot, and when I tried to get on it the A/C compressor was lugged down.

As posted in the "What did you do to your GMT400 today" thread, I'm going to post it here too.
Finally got a camper shell, after a couple months of searching and missing out on a few decent (and a few not so decent) ones I found this one on CL; messaged him Monday morning and picked it up today. $75, and all it needs is a good cleaning, and a fresh coat of paint to match my truck.

Do you have an old ****** belt that slipped?

The belt on there is a Gates one, it's probably only a year and a half old. I didn't see any indication of the belt having slipped. But there are a couple of questionable wear spots starting to show.
I'm planning on getting a Gatorback belt to replace it, and ACDelco tensioner and idler to replace the junky parts store ones I had to throw on.

The AC Delco tensioners are nice. They come with a new bolt with threadlocker already applied and have super intuitive markings for tensioner clocking.
