Anyone ever successfully lowered a factory bench seat?

Forgot to update this thread for anyone following along. Here's some pics of the new fit. I'm beyond happy.

Your work looks great!

I don't understand it though. How tall are you? I'm 5'7", and I have my tahoe seat (buckets) raised all the way up. If I could go higher, I would. When my hand is on the top of the steering wheel, my knuckles are about upper neck height on me. I guess it's all in preference lol. My dad has an old 84 that he had the bench redone in. He told the guy to build the padding up, so he did. It's REALLY high now, and feels great.

I'm still curious to see how tall you are... haha

5'10".

IDK man. I've always had low-slung cars. Camaros, Mustangs, a 370Z, a laundry list of other low go-fast stuff, and currently a Focus ST with the Recaros. It's just something about the feel to me, of being low in the cage. This gave me exactly what I was looking for. A 'sporty bench', if you will. The way it was stock was just too semi-truck for my tastes.

Haha, you'd hate a van then...those seats are really high. I drove my uncles 1-ton GMT-610 van around for awhile, when I was doing my fuel pump and frame cleaning. When I switched back to my truck, I felt like I was sitting really low.... like how I feel when I drive my 69 Buick.

Lol, yeah. It's not like I haven't driven umpteen different things, but with the angle I'm taking with this truck, a lower seat was a quick and easy job that added a lot. If I was going to tackle that job, now was the time.

Going to do the same to my seats! I am 6ft and need more head room on my lowback buckets.

As I get older, the set higher off the floor is more comfortable. I'm 6'5".
