I was REALLY hoping for the E4OD or the 5 speed.

I had the E4OD in my '90 - blew it in ~55,000 miles. Was ~$2500 to repair in 1991.

So. Another update. Just got sent a pic that it is indeed a C6 automatic, but, it turns out it has a Gear Vendors OD kit on it.

I dont think I'd want the 460....not enough power (on paper) and horrible fuel mileage. Powerwise I think it's more like a 454 tbi, rather than a Vortec and gets single digit mileage. On the other hand maybe that gear vendors unit will change that.

What about a Cummins swap? I think the truck will make a good project.

For what we are likely to use the truck for, I think it'll be sufficient power. If I can manage to get it built to about 240-250 horse at the wheels and somewhere between 400 & 450 torque, it'll tow a car hauler decent, and we may put a camper in the bed or tow a small 6-7k lb travel trailer. As far as fuel mileage, if it can get 10 unloaded, that's good enough for me. I was a broke teenager with a 454, and I've never gotten over that obsession with torque despite/regardless of poor mileage.
