Wiring question

Two DVC 4 ohm subs wired to 1 ohm ( monoblock amp)
Sub #1 - pos from one vc to pos on the other vc / neg to neg
Sub #2 -same as Sub #1
Pos from both subs to pos on amp
Neg from both subs to neg on amp

I have looked at wiring diagrams online and they show wiring subs together. Since the subs are in separate boxes is the way I have them wired basically the same thing?

What I mean is that the subs are in separate enclosures. Do they have to be wired together directly or will the way I listed above produce a 1 ohm load?

Alway's use an ohm meter to verify your ohm load, I deal with this on a big scale almost daily!
