When I got my truck (C2500 Suburban 350 1999) there was a new trans filter included - still in its box. A Fram FT1217B. Thinking it might be better to check it's the correct part before my ATF arrives next week... ******! It's for a 4L60E. (Fram 1203A is apparently the correct one for a 4L80E).

So I need to get a filter. Which of these would you choose? >> https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...v8,1353057,transmission-automatic,filter,8600

This one though, is the only one that appears to supply the seal as well as the gasket >> https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=440830&cc=1353057&jsn=751 but is quite pricy once shipping is added (shipping is more than for next one).

This one is tempting but no mention of seal >> https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=63952&cc=1353057&jsn=749

This >> http://c2c.activant.com/ctoc/index.jsp?ID=fBS16GCw.CU5mPzF_CURGM2BBUFM6AVUPSnRbTwEMEQAA is available in the UK but no mention of seal.

Am I correct in thinking that no mention of seal mean no seal included?
Is seal replacement an absolute requirement (I'm guessing it is)?
Is the seal I have with the FT1217B 4L60 filter by any chance the same as one for a 4L80E?

I've just found a Fram1203A in the UK and have asked if there's a seal included.

I've used Wix 58836 filters in my 4l80e, that part comes with the nitrile gasket. Wix has another part without the gasket.

Also, check that is says 17 bolt. The parts store websites show the 2500 coming with 4l60e and 4l80e, even with the 454 engine. You can't rely on their filtering. The 4l80e is 17 bolt and 4l60e is 16 bolt.

Yep, I've been counting the bolt holes too!
Here's Fram's website page >> https://www.fram.com/parts-search/FT1203A. The gasket can be seen to have 17 holes.

Fram have just answered in a live chat that their FT1203A kit does include a seal. Just waiting for a UK ebay to confirm the same and I'll order one I think. Didn't think I'd find a name I recognise (Fram) in the UK but there is one vendor.

And waiting and waiting and....
Yeah, I know there's a gasket - I can see it in the picture. The seal, is there a seal? Just open the box and LOOK.
