1996 Chevy c1500 5.0 runs perfect 140k original miles. I’ve had it for almost a month, it randomly gave me a p1441 code. I found a loose hose, replaced it, code hasn’t come back.

But I also found this plug just hanging out with nowhere to go. Any ideas? Could it have been 5.7 swapped and this was leftover?

So my understanding is evap purge vale/solenoid is the part I have in the first picture I posted.

There’s a piece missing that I have a plug for that doesn’t have a home. That would be the purge vacuum diagnostic switch according to the emissions label. Using the below pictures I pulled off the Internet, I have the piece circled in red but I don’t have the part circled in blue, only the plug. And all the threads I found were dead ends, and I can’t find the actual part anywhere to purchase it.

Can you say "Treasure Yard"?

Sure. I knew you could.

Another option is to disable the reporting of the error, which can be done with a "tune" (one would need to check if P1441 specifically can be disabled). I used JET's tuning tools and I know there are a LOT of errors that can be "removed".

For example, I had a bad downstream O2 sensor that I needed some time to fix; I got tired of seeing the CEL so I disabled the reporting of the error by using the JET tool. Once I replaced the O2, I re-enabled the reporting. Easy peasy.
