1990 Silverado, 96 LT1-4, tremac six speed w/3.42 got 27+ mpg and now with 3.73's gets 25+.. Plus all depends not on how fast it's driven, but where it's driven, you see I built this for hi-speed as well as canyon cutting..

Today's tires are 235/70's and 275/60's on 7 and 8" rims

Wow, I wish I could get 25+.

I have a 1990 K2500 ECSB with a 5.7L, a 700R4 transmission, 3.73 gears, and 245/75/16 tires. I have averaged 12.62 mpg over 1,528 miles since I got the truck. I log each tank here: Chevy K2500 Fuel Economy Log.

Each tank had a maintenance issue (02 sensor, PVC tube plugged up, etc) lowering the fuel economy since the truck had been sitting in a field for over two years with the hood up before I got it. I also think my torque converter is not locking up right now. Fuel economy should go up when I get that fixed.

12.4 average MPG calculated over 223 fuelups in 40,373 miles. I'v spend $11,364.01 for fuel in this truck since 2009.

1999 K1500, L31, NV4500, 3.73's.

6 inch lift with 35x12.5x15 tires combined with the weight of the lift kit, steel bumpers and 3.73 gears I get about 20L/100km or as google tells me, 11.7mpg highway. This is with a replacement crate engine for the old 5.7L attached to a 4l60 trans. Pretty light on the throttle, but damn it still hurts the pocket, I do mostly city driving of which I can only get about 250km to half a tank which is about $55.

cool to know, thanks.

i do like learning new stuff.....as i'm a frikkin dinosaur. the fuel injection and rear anti-lock brakes on my good 'ol 1990 K/5 was like Star Trek **** to me when i got her, LOL
My 1991 rcsb, 2 wd, 350, auto, 3:73's and 285x70x15 tires gets 12.8 mpg. It got 13.1 mpg once. I'm the third owner. The guy that bought the truck new was the editor for Hot Rod Magazine when he bought it. I'm sure the motor isn't stock because it runs so good. Several people have asked what kind of cam it has but I have no idea. I've tried getting in touch with him but no luck. His name is Orv Elgie and he lived in Norwalk California when he bought it. MAYBE somebody that reads this knows how to contact him. Yeah I know it's a looooong shot.

Was getting 17 Highway with the stock 350ci 93 C1500

I'm getting 19 MPG Highway and 15 city.

I did a rear end swap from the 3.08:1 10 bolt to the 14 bolt SF 3.73:1. Then I took the NV3500 out and put a NV4500 MW3 with a Gearvendors under/overdrive, then 17" 2007 Yukon aluminum rims and 245/70R17 Bridgestone Duller A/T. Stock rims and tires was 235/75R15

With both transmissions having the same 4th and 5th gear ratios it made it easier to see the differences.

final gear ratio from the NV3500 was .73:1 X 3.08=2.2484 final gear to the wheels.
Final gear ratio from the NV4500 with Gearvendors is .5694 X 3.73=2.123862 final gear to he wheels.

I have been thinking about re-gearing it to 3.42 for more highway. By the way I'm dropping a LQ4 402ci in it as well.
That would be .5694 X 3.42= 1.947348 final gear. Then maybe I can start using my first gear.
I honestly don't know what the mpg will be with the LQ4 stroker. We should have to find out.
