Vortec 4.3 to carbed 350 swap questions

I have an opportunity to snag a rebuilt 350 (355) that has quite a few goodies in it for a very good deal. My truck is a 96 and currently has a 4.3/4l60e. I'm curious as to what I can do to control the trans without spending 600 on a controller.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
