TBI engine in a vortec

The engine yes. Not worth keeping the tbi setup so you would need to swap heads. The vortec has a better system along with a roller cam iirc.

It would be better to start with a vortec engine to build

Heads, intake, distributor, all accessories, install crank sensor reluctor wheel onto front of crank, blah blah etc. And still not the correct cam profile to be a 100% replacement for the Vortec. Better off finding another Vortec or building yours.

We did this swap on a buddies 96 a while back. Vortec top end on a TBI short block. It runs perfectly, its just kinda weak compared to a roller cam vortec.
