I looked back in this forum to 12/31/20 and didn't find a similar thread so, here goes...

I'm sure, a lot of you have the issue where your gear shift indicator (auto trans) either doesn't work or is way off. This seems to be because the slot in the cover is worn out and the indicator cable has either slid out of position or completely off. Mine is worn in 2. My son super glued and taped it back together - that lasted about a week . I'm looking for a replacement cover for an 88 with tilt steering. He says it's #54 in this exploded view of a 92's column. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Mine was on the money until I had my dash replaced. Now when I’m OD the indicator is between N & OD, but closer to OD. Same with the other gears. I just deal with it.

Yup, that's how my Burb is, and how my 90 GMC square body Burb was. The squares were notorious for the ears on the bottom of the instrument cluster breaking off, and then the cable that the pointer slides on has no mount. So...you either replace that plastic housing and put everything back together properly, or you count clicks. I count clicks on this Burb, until I get around to pulling it down to adjust the indicator. It's a 4L60E so we're not gonna be just slamming it into low and flooring it anyway.....
