Hey yall, might be a dumb question but I was able to buy a 99 1500 4wd for pretty cheap, it had been rolled by someone and the roof was collapsed and cut off. It runs, drives, a/c even work and the rest of the body/frame is good, has big ol tires etc. I was also able to pick up a 92 c2500 that was an intact cab, 6.2 with a 4l80e. Im thinking I can take the cab from the 92 and put it on the 99. I am not worried about wiring as i will be removing the dash and wiring up my own gauges and whatnot. It will be an off-roader from now on. Is this even doable? Will the cabs swap out or would it be easier to find a style of cab closer to a 99? Got everything for cheap so i figured i at least try it.

It is possible. You will run into a problem with the door panels however. The 1988-1994 inner door structure is different from the 1995-1998, so the inner door panels will not fit. Slight modification to the floor to make the seats bolt in but nothing major.

Assuming the 99 is a GMT-800, and not a 400, it would likely be a lot of work figuring out each and every step. If they're both 400s, then it would mostly be a bolt together.
