i have ac controls just like that and have leds in them...

Just like the first pic? They are either the SMD type, or you're one of the extremely lucky ones and probably got low wattage LEDs. I hope your alternator never goes out while you're driving, if the input voltage to hvac gets below 8-9volts, you will probably pop that circuit. I would still recommend the patch, and will post instructions soon.
