I love my manual NV3500... just needs a lighter clutch...

did you say a 7.4L?.... cause... this transmission is meant for V8s.... like, mild built stock small block V8s...

I think you mean a 454 (because this isn't Europe) and the 454 could, potentially, explode that transmission if you drive it hard enough... you may want a NV4500....
of course, if you just want a manual that will work, yeah; do it =)
just don't dump the clutch at 3,000+ rpm
and it you do, an NV4500 will be an easy swap

Pre 90' NV3500s are known as the HM290, and have smaller bearings than the later units. Also a 7.4 might be a bit much for one.

Ok a 7.4 and a 454 are the exact same thing and a 454 is also a V8 but you are correct theres a reason they didnt put 3500's behind big blocks stock

i say go for it,,i run low 12s with a 7.5 inch rear end and slicks with my g body,,,but on the other hand,,just cause you can,,dont mean you should,,,if you drive it right ,,i think it will live,,,start playing around,,make sure you got a cell phone and a credit card,,,jus saying,,,
