That sure is pretty!
Smeding is one of the bigger names in the aftermarket game, I wouldn't hesitate to run it.
That being said, like any other company, they may have had changed over the years, so do your due diligence (as it appears you are)

Around our drag strip there are more of Scott’s engines than any other brand and we are 1500 miles away. I’ve used these, with good flowing heads and a turbo for a nice street combo without the need for a wild cam.

Nothing compared to a $400 magic 4.8 or 5.3 though lol.

Recommend a different type piston and ringpak.
Go for more modern, thin metric ringpak and corresponding piston; but also one that has shorter compression height aka distance to mate w/ 6" long rod.
Many Hyper pistons (particularly UEM & KB) have top ring groove that's set high up and its high land notoriously more prone to detonation failure. FWIW, UEM is parent of KB, Silvolite and Icon.
A Forged piston is more robust than a Hypereutectic casting; 4032 alloy is a relatively good compromise of strength but low expansion.
Instead of GM blocks, if Smeding is marketing its own 4" bore blocks, perhaps learn just who manufactures block and where.
Also, too many of the non-GM aftermarket crates' roller cams are ground on a cast iron core; not a billet steel core like GM uses in its roller production, replacement & performance motors.
