This might be a dumb question, but can I jam a garden hose into the lower rad hose and flush the block out that way? Will that even do anything?

1. Pull the block drain plugs, BOTH SIDES. You may have to poke a screwdriver into the block drain holes to break the "crust" of settled sediment before coolant comes out.

2. It's enormously easier to flush using a heater hose. Get a "Flush and Fill Kit", follow the instructions.

3. Put the block drain plugs--which might be a knock sensor on the right side and a plain steel plug on the left, depending on which engine this it--back in when you're done flushing. The knock sensor requires a torque wrench and the specified torque.
