Rear bumper ????

Will a fleet bed rear bumper fit on a step side ??? will it bolt right up ? Lmk guys thanks

A fleetside bumper won't fit, the lip on the fleet bumper is wider. You can see it pretty well in this pic, middle bumper is the stepside one

Just for knowledge sake, is "grindage," on the visible plastic part shown all that's needed? Or are there more areas?

I thought the only difference was the top plastic piece that needed trimmed.

It's the actual steel that needs to be ground a bit. Remove enough so that the lip left is 1/4"- 3/8" narrower on each side than the width of the tail gate.

Good to know. I've found a few nice used fleetside bumpers at the junkyard, but never wanted to outright buy one to find out if it fit or not.

If I cut metal, I'd probably have to stick to a paintable one - I'd imagine whatever I cut would start rusting/streaking/spreading right away where I live.

This the different bumper from fleet bed to stepside had to trim couple inches in both side
