Rear axle ratios

So I’m curious, let’s say you have a GMT400 with stock 28.9” tall tires & a GMT800 with stock 30.5” tall tires & they’re both advertised as 3.23 gears does the factory account for the different tire size(s) by changing final drive ratios to effectively keep the same ratio (I’d assume not) or just actually install 3.23s no matter the tire height?

The gear ratio is independent of tire size. 4.10s with a 26" tire is the same the 4.10s with a 44" tire.

A taller tire will "act" like a numerically lower gear ratio. The opposite with a smaller tire....
