I'm willing to be the bolts aren't rusted to the threads, just the heads to the cover.

Found the GT5 code inside the glovebox. Luckily THAT label is still legible!

Now for the hunt of a recon axle assembly....seem to plenty about for the 1500....2500 not so much. :(

Yeah, quite possible. Sure hope so if I ever get that far.
I actually bought a new cover for it a couple of years ago, but also then didn't attempt to remove the old one. Pretty soon the old cover will leak through....the metal is looking rather rusty and suspect.
If I can find a reconditioned axle assembly, I'll go that route. If not, I will start tearing into the existing rust heap.

22 year old SnowPlow Truck from Massachusetts now Northeast Pennsylvania; that salt took its toll!

Quick update: the truck is back up-and-running, albeit with the rusty backing plate. Axle shaft & diff cover NOT removed.

Appreciate all the help; you guys and gals are great!
