Hello all I have a 1988 reg cab short wheel base truck that came with a 4.3 and 5 speed can anyone tell me about what one of these trucks weight.I'm in the process of dropping in a ls1 with a 700r4.and just would like to know about what this thing weight so i know about what to expect performance wise thank you for any info

Sounds awesome, why use a 700r4 when the 4l60 will drive better? Post pics.

Thank you tthe reason is i already had a built 700r4 and the Ls1 is carbed.I have another question does the step side bed weight more or less then a fleet bed thank you

Wait aren't the 700R4 and the 4L60 the same transmission and gm just changed how they named them?

less, the step side panels are a fiberglass composite IIRC

Actually it's heavier, i swapped one on my old 92. The inner box is super heavy.
As for the weight of the truck, mine is a RCSB and comes in at 3873 with my 210lbs in the seat.

Yes and no, the 60E has solenoids inside of it to make it shift, the R4 doesn't. The newer 60's have some stuff that's different in them than the older ones.
