Maybe some people beat way harder than me but I have beat my trucks pretty hard and never had a g80 break.

i didn't have to beat my 94 to break the g80 with 265's, it just copped a attitude one day and decided it wanted to leave, i put in a 12 bolt from a 76 with 400k miles on it and went another 160k(100k on 35's) on those before i cut that truck up

the 10 bolt g80 is what hes refering to i think... the 14 bolt ones like you had in your cc are alot stronger than the 10 bolts

Maybe I've just been lucky.

Still I've had 35s on my 10 bolt g80 for 30k now with no issues.

Again the way he beats his trucks and the way I beat my trucks is 2 completely different things... His is more purpose built while mine are my dd

my 94 was my daily driver, it was still stock when the g80 blew up, it was a 10b g80 though, those are the ones i have been referring to as junk, the 9.5 and 10.5 ones are much better, the o.p. never stated he had anything bigger than a 1/2 ton so that leaves him with the junk 10b rear.

i know first hand of many 10b g80 failures, even my old boss with his suburban had 2 randomly just blow, and he drove slower than a old blue hair on sunday

Can't wait to put the 92 under the knife for this...will be a few years...but it will be glorious.

And please stop talking about G80's. Both of mine have them. You all are making me nervous!

Figured I'd add my truck is a stock 94 with 203k miles on stock g80 and i use it for hauling wood, mulch, stone. Its an ex plow truck of 16 years. No issues.
