Just SCREAMS TCC to me.sounds like a converter lockup issue to me.
I have put new plugs in last year since the ones that were in there were very old, it’s got a junk yard distributor in it right now and i have a feeling it’s not very good the only way I was able to get the timing correct on the scanner was to turn it clockwise to the point where it was very close to the upper intake and just enough room to slip the spark plug wire boot on where it’s closest to plastic intake so probably going to try a different distributor to see what happens...like I said earlier I have a p3040 code I cannot seem to get rid of.Have you already done the obvious plugs, wires, cap, rotor?
I have a 1998 Cheyenne with 5.7 vortec, and had I think the same issues, stuttering at highway speeds, couldn't figure it out. Did all the same replacements, pump, filter, pressure reg, spider,.. finally replaced the CAM POSITION SENSOR on the distributor, and problem solved. She runs like a champ now.
