Making my own stand alone harness for a 98 454

Hey guys, I'm new here and have found a lot of great info. Thanks. I am in the process of putting a 1998 vortec 454 with a built th350 in a tube frame rock crawler. I am looking for info on converting my own wiring harness to stand alone. I have read lots and lots of pages on this, but can't seem to track down one with the actual information on what I can do away with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am upgrading the cam and valve springs in my engine. It is a mild upgrade. Should I upgrade to the newer PCM, or just have mine programmed for my purposes?

the only help I can give you is that the newer pcm is easier to find people to tune. but since you have a 98, nelsonperformance and black bear should both do it. I got mine done at nelson works great!
